Before Peakline's team logs in, Jay has to tell Salesforce some basics about the company. Where is it? What time zone? Which currency? When does its year start? Those are the company settings.
Company Information
In Setup, type Company Information in the Quick Find box. This page shows the org's name, address, default locale, time zone and currency. It also shows how much storage you've used, and how many user licenses you have.
Regional settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Default locale | How dates, numbers and addresses look |
| Default language | The language of the screens |
| Default time zone | Used for new users |
| Currency | The money Peakline sells in |
Each user can still change their own locale and time zone.
Fiscal year and business hours
The fiscal year is the company's money year. By default, Salesforce uses a standard year, and you can change the month it starts. Reports and forecasts follow it, so Sarah's quarterly numbers line up with Peakline's books.
Business hours are when Peakline is open, day by day. David's support team uses them, so Salesforce knows when a customer's case should be handled.
